I was just looking at some today, right at $50.00 a set, it's a shame they don't cure whateverdahell causes Felpro's to leak. I was wondering if this guy is really in Midlothian and if you ever heard of him? BobO I was the garage super (shop foreman) for Avis in Fairfax we handled all the rental fleet repairs for Dulles and (Reagan) "National Aiport" at that time. I knew a lot of people in the area too, I use to visit Joe Jacobie #66 Washington Redskins at his Jeep dealership to BS once in a while and we knew just about all of the classic car club sales lots and restorers in the area. I am the webmaster of our club web site, by the way.ĭo you know the Winchester "Valley Cruisers" people? I emailed the guy selling the original T-Bolt advertised on Ebay starting at 300K to ask what the other 11 classics he has to sell are and, he replied to call him in Midlothian, Va., I use to drive between Winchester thru the 4 Corners area there allmost daily to Warrenton and never heard of his classics storage and sales company. ![]() The mechanicals are probably 95% complete. Right now its a "20 footer." I hope to paint her this spring and redo the interior. Glad you enjoyed the web site and photo of my car. Should I tighten the bottom first, instead? Don't understand why they are leaking only from the bottom, though. Is there a specific sequence or pattern I should follow when tightening the bolts? I started in the middle and worked out using an "X" pattern. If that doesn't work, I guess it's time to ask the machine shop to square plane the surface of the manifolds. ![]() I know what you mean about wrench clearance so, I also use a 1/4 drive "Crapsman for their you break it we replace it policy" lol., but I put a bottle jack handle on the ratchet and take it to what I would estimate to be around 45-50 ft. I Think your right about the advertised recommended tightening torque being low and I don't think it would apply to the copper gaskets because, that wouldn't be enough to crush one effectively. was just looking at some today, right at $50.00 a set, it's a shame they don't cure whateverdahell causes Felpro's to leak. I am not interested in discussing the use of exhaust manifold gaskets on an FE. They were assembled using FelPro exhaust manifold gaskets. (Before anyone says anything, the engine is a new reman 390 and the exhaust manifolds were planed flat. Any useful suggestions would be appreciated. I asked and was told to install the gaskets dry without hi-temp silicone or anything else. In fact, I can really only get a 1/4" drive socket on the bottom bolts from under the car. I can't get a torque wrench in there but that is really not that much. Should I let everything heat up and then retighten the bolts after they cool down? Should I loosen and then re-tighten the bolts after things cool down? My manual says to torque the bolts to 12-18 lb-ft. What should I do to stop the leak? I was told by various people on this board that these gaskets are the best and would compensate for minor warpage. Upon firing up the car, I found that the gasket was leaking badly at the bottom of the ports. I only had time to do one side as it got too cold in the garage before I finished. I cleaned the old gasket material off the ports and manifold before installing them. All of the studs are made from stainless steel - unlike any other vendor.I replaced a leaking FelPro exhaust manifold gasket with a set of the copper gaskets. ![]() All items are British made and exclusive to DeLorean Go.
